Swifts are among the most spectacular of birds. Shaped like drawn bows, they are masters of flight, living much of their lives on the wing, achieving speeds of over 60mph. They are summer visitors, usually arriving in late April or the first weeks of May. They leave in late July or early August.
In that short period of around 100 days, they mate, nest and rear their young. They are one of the distinctive sights of our summers, yet their existence in Britain and more locally here, is under threat.
If you have swifts nesting near you, if you think that your house might become a home for swifts, or if you would like to know more about this wonderful bird, do please let us know. Email us on [email protected]
These postcards are available in store for £1. All monies go towards protecting nest sites and encouraging new ones by purchasing nest boxes. We have new cards for 2022, but also a few from last year.
